Popcorn Sales Opportunity (7 & 8 Oct)

posted Sep 23, 2011 8:15 PM by Tim Rapp

The Pack popcorn fundraiser is upon us.  Additional details will be distributed at the next Pack meeting; however, there is an opportunity to sell pop corn at Holy Family and the FSK on 7 and 8 Oct respectively.  Both dates are on the same sign up sheet which can be found at: http://www1.mysignup.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?datafile=mallpopcorn.  There are 28 slots available.  This is a perfect opportunity for those Scouts who do not have a good area for selling.

Here is some information regarding what to do, what to wear, and what to expect at each shift:

Friday night’s auction

1. It will be held at the Jefferson Ruritan Center at 4603 Lander Road in Jefferson.

Saturday’s mall show—rules received from our Area Popcorn Kernel and contact for FSK Mall

1. It will be held inside FSK Mall just outside the Barnes and Noble store.

2. Please place all empty inventory boxes under the tables. Keep area clean - Remember Leave NO Trace.

3. Tables must be manned at all times. If you take a Saturday, a scout has to be at the provided tables at all times. The Mall would prefer two Scouts per shift not to exceed three. Just remember Youth Protection must be observed at all times.

4. Absolutely NO horseplay. The scouts must remain within an arm’s length of the table.

Both sales

1. Scouts should be dressed in their Class A uniforms, not t-shirts.

2. Parents should accompany scouts to booth and expect to stay through the entire shift.

3. We will be totaling up all the sales for each day and dividing that amount by the number of boys that worked. Each boy will get that amount as his personal sales to add to his sales sheet. So there are NO bad shifts.

4. Start each shift with a fresh sales sheet. Note all sales for that shift on that sheet. This will help us identify if a tracking problem happened during a shift. It won’t mess up the entire sales tally.

5. We will be processing credit cards via my daughter’s iPhone that I will leave with the parent in charge of each shift.

6. Scouts will do the selling, but parents will handle all the money including processing the credit cards.

7. Scouts and parents should be at the booth at least 5 minutes before their shifts start, so they can become comfortable with the selling process and credit card process.

8. Scouts should keep the booth tidy and attractive throughout their shift.

9. There should be no horse-play at the booth. Scouts should be focused on asking people if they would like to help support Cub Scouts by buying popcorn.

10. Remind the scouts that they will probably hear a lot of “no’s”. That is OK—it only takes 1 person to say “yes” to get a sale. Parents should commend scouts for continuing to approach people and ask them to support their pack.

11. Have FUN! It’s exciting to get sales and a great confidence builder for the boys.

If you have any questions about your scout’s shift, please call John Soluri or me. We will be on-site for as many of the shifts as we can to help you get started.
