BALOO Training (17-18 Sep)

posted Aug 21, 2011, 1:19 PM by Tim Rapp

BALOO Training, scheduled for  9/17-18, WILL BE HELD in conjunction with Webelos Woods this year.

BALOO is Basic Adult Leadership Outdoor Orientation. The training covers some basic camping skills and the administrative requirements for taking Cub Scouts camping. BSA regulations require at least one BALOO trained adult for any activity requiring a tour permit - any overnighter, whether camping is involved or not, and day trips more than 50 miles away or out of NCAC boundaries. Right now, to my knowledge, we only have two BALOO trained adults, John Bongard and myself, and John will be leaving in March when James bridges to Boy Scouts. This will leave us ONE DEEP for BALOO, which puts our ability to conduct outings at risk. Ideally, each den should have at least one BALOO trained adult, and it doesn't have to be the registered leader(s). The training will be held in Myersville, so this is a great oppurtunity to get it locally.

If you are already BALOO trained, please let me know.

Thanks to Hutch Hutcheson who will be providing the training!
