What is Friends of Scouting? The Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign is conducted annually among the parents of Scouts, Scout volunteer leadership and the communities in which Scouting is located. Families and Scout volunteers are the first to see the benefit of Scouting for youth and local communities often benefit through Scout service projects. District and unit volunteers conduct the FOS campaign to give everyone the opportunity to support and grow the Scouting program. Why should I give to Friends of Scouting?Friends of Scouting provides roughly one quarter of the money needed to operate the National Capitol Area Council's Scouting camps, programs and facilities for a calendar year. These camping and training facilities are the "outdoor classrooms" in which Scouts have fun, learn leadership skills and develop into better young men and women. Additional information can be found at the National Capital Area Council website.
